Not every part should be painted with conventional automotive topcoat. Heat, abrasion, road debris, brake dust, and chemical exposure all change what a coating has to do.
Engine paints need temperature resistance and decent chemical durability. Chassis coatings need impact resistance and corrosion control. Underhood and underbody areas often benefit from finishes made specifically for those conditions rather than standard exterior materials.
